How are Edexcel Level 1/Level 2 Certificates marked and graded?

Edexcel Level 1/Level 2 Certificates are linear qualifications, which means you take all of the exams in the same exam session, usually at the end of your course. You are awarded raw marks for each exam paper and any coursework that you've completed. These marks are combined, taking into account any weightings for individual components, to give an overall mark. You can find the weights for each component in the specification, available on each Edexcel Certificate subject page.

Once all of the exam papers have been marked, our senior examiners decide where the grade boundaries should be and you are awarded a grade based on where your mark lies within these boundaries.
