Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Basedata
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is a service for centres that use a Management Information System (MIS). It uses basedata to transfer data between awarding bodies and centres. Here, you can download basedata and find out how to use EDI to make entries and registrations.
How to use EDI
Support articles on using EDI and basedata can be found our support page A2C & EDI/Basedata Information And Support

About our basedata
Our BTEC basedata is specific to your centre's approvals, so we cannot publish a generic basedata file on our website in the same way that we do for other qualifications. You can get this basedata from Edexcel Online if your software supplier supports it.
The correct basedata format for each software package or EDI format is listed below.
EDI format
NQF BTEC next generation external assessments
JCQ basedata is now available for the external assessment test entries.
Please note that this is to assist you in entering learners for the assessments in your MIS. We are able to accept entries for paper-based, performance and project assessments via EDI this year.
The current JCQ EDI format does not support onscreen test entries via EDI, as there is no facility to specify a date and time for a test. Please make these entries on EOL.
For centres using EDIFACT format, entries for all external assessments need to be made via EOL.
Welsh versions
BTEC NG basedata for learners registered on the Welsh versions of these qualifications and being assessed in the Welsh language is available on request. If you need it please e-mail your request to eprocessing@pearson.com.
