FAQs for students

Setting up your account

Your exams officer or teacher can tell you whether your school or college has chosen to register you for this service.

If you haven't been registered, don't worry, you can still collect your results from your school or college in the normal way.

If your school or college has registered you, then you'll need to validate your account to use ResultsPlus Direct. Once you've validated your account, we'll send you a username and password so you can log in.

To validate your account, you should either:

We've stopped using the PIN slip method to create your account. You can validate your account by one of the methods above.

Click on the 'Forgotten your password?' link on the login screen below the 'Change password' button. Type the email address you registered with into the 'username' field in the pop-up window that appears. A new password will be emailed to you.

If during the password reset you submit the wrong security details three times, your account will be locked. If this happens, please ask your exams officer to unlock your account.

If you’ve not received your password yet, try requesting a new one by clicking on the 'Forgotten your password?' link on the login screen and keying in your email address. Please also check your junk mail folder, as passwords are sent using an automated service and may be perceived as spam.

Logging in

Access to ResultPlus Direct is prohibited on results day before 9 a.m. From 9 a.m. you should be able to access your account provided you are using a valid username and login. Please refer to our FAQs page if you have any queries about your account.

Try re-typing your email address to make sure you typed it correctly. If you didn’t receive an email confirming your registration with your login details, it may be that you mistyped your email address when you registered. If so, you’ll need to ask your exams officer to reset your account.

Contact your email provider first to see if you can reactivate your email address. If you can’t, ask your exams officer to reset your account so you can re-register with a different email address.

Passwords are case sensitive, so type the letters in capitals if that’s how they appear in the email you received. You can copy it from the email and paste it into the password field. If you’ve tried three times to log in and it hasn’t worked, your account will be locked. To unlock it you’ll need to request a new password by clicking on the 'Forgotten your password?' button. You can then use the new password that’s emailed to you to log in. If you still have a problem, request a new password by clicking the ‘Forgotten your Password?’ link on the login screen. If your email address is not recognised, you’ll need to ask your exams officer to reset your account.

Using ResultsPlus Direct

When you log in to ResultsPlus Direct, you’ll see an overview of all your subjects taken with Edexcel. Your results are split into folders for each type of qualification, like GCSE and GCE. Clicking on each subject helps you to see more detail about how you performed on each paper, each question and each topic. More advice on using ResultsPlus Direct is available via the help facility.

You should be able to access the new ResultsPlus Direct using a browser on most computers, smartphones and tablets with an internet or wi-fi connection.

Each student account is associated with one centre (school/college). If you have taken exams at more than one centre, you will only be able to view the results of Edexcel exams taken at the centre(s) that registered you for access to ResultsPlus Direct.

However, if each of your centres have registered you for access to ResultsPlus Direct using different UCIs, you will have an account for each UCI and will need to log in to both accounts in order to access all of your Edexcel results.

Each student account is associated with one UCI. If your centre (school/college) has entered you for exams using multiple UCIs, you will only be able to view the results associated with the UCI that was used to create your ResultsPlus Direct account. This may be the case if you've moved to a different centre. Your new centre may have used your previous centre's UCI for one exam series, but has issued you with a second UCI for the another exam series.

Occasionally a student will sit an exam without having been entered for it. Neither Edexcel nor ResultsPlus Direct will have any record of the exam entry and therefore ResultsPlus Direct will not be able to display the results. If this situation has occurred, please discuss it further with your exams officer/teacher.

If you have previously retaken a paper and got the result, and that result is now being cashed in for an award, there is a period of 2-3 weeks from mid July when you are unable to view the result for the resit. Before the cash-in, this result would have been visible as a "non-cash-in" within ResultsPlus Direct. When cash-ins are applied to the system, the resit is then "embargoed". It will be visible again once the result for the whole award is released on results day and the drill-down facility is made available.

Please ask your exams officer/teacher to confirm with which awarding body you sat your exams. ResultsPlus Direct is only available to support Edexcel exams and you can only view your results using this facility if you have been registered by your exams officer for access to ResultsPlus Direct.
