Requirements and conditions stipulated in the specification must be met.
Component 3:
- the centre making the entry (host centre) must make arrangements allowing the candidate's performance to be internally assessed and standardised allowing the host centre to submit a centre mark
- the host centre must be able to present complete evidence the candidate's chosen activity via recording or during a live moderation visit if the candidate is selected as part of the moderation sample.
Component 4:
- the centre making the entry (host centre) must make arrangements allowing the candidate's work to be internally assessed and standardised allowing the host centre to then also submit a centre mark
- the candidate's work must be available for sampling by the coursework submission deadline
- candidates must carry out a Performance Analysis (PA) and then a Performance Development Programme (PDP).
For the PA, as either a player/performer or coach, students investigate two components of a physical activity (one physiological component and either a technical or a tactical component) to analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of their own performance. Students must collect quantitative and qualitative data to support their analysis and recommendations.
For the PDP, students identify one of the two components of a physical activity from their PA (physiological, technical or tactical). They plan, perform and record their performance in this component of the physical activity. They must apply appropriate principles and methods of training and SMART(ER) targets to a plan designed to optimise performance. They must collect both quantitative and qualitative data to enable them to critically evaluate the outcomes of their programme against its original aims.
The PDP must be completed over an 8-10 week period.
Carrying out and producing the PA and PDP may take place over multiple sessions but must not exceed the combined duration of 54 hours.
Please refer to the published specification and JCQ guidelines for full details of conditions that must be met.
