About the role
Warehouse operatives work in a variety of warehouse environments. Work activities include taking deliveries, checking for damaged/missing items, storing goods, moving stock by various methods, picking/packing orders, loading goods for dispatch, maintaining stock records and documentation, and cleaning. Warehouse operatives communicate with a wide range of people and customers and have a passion to meet customers’ expectations by providing a quality of service that encourages repeat business. They are often required to be flexible and work shifts.

We provide a clear learning programme to take apprentices from entry through to the gateway for end-point assessment.
You can use our on-programme offer regardless of whether you are using Pearson as your end-point assessment organisation or not.
Qualifications
In order to meet the apprenticeship standards, apprentices must gain:
- Minimum of Level 1 English and attempt a Level 2 English
- Mnimum of Level 1 maths and a attempt a Level 2 maths
There are existing optional qualifications that have been mapped to show coverage of the apprenticeship standard.
We’ve mapped regulated qualifications to those assessment criteria, making it easy for you to design a unitised learning programme.
As both a vocational and academic awarding organisation, we can offer a wide range of English and maths qualifications in line with your standards’ requirements from Functional Skills through to GCSEs.

End-point assessment
As an ESFA-approved Assessment Organisation, we provide a full range of assessment services, resources and support from our experienced EPA team to equip you and your learners with the diverse requirements of the apprenticeship standards.
You can use Pearson as your end-point assessment organisation, regardless of whether you choose to use our on-programme offer or not.
Specification
The end-point assessment consists of the following two assessment components:
- Knowledge test comprising short answer questions based on scenarios encountered in the workplace
- Practical test consisting of activities observed by the assessor relating to the skills requirements in the apprenticeship standard.
The overall apprenticeship is graded as Pass/Distinction, based on the apprentice’s combined achievement of the specified grading criteria across the two assessment components.
Overall EPA is graded as Pass/Distinction, and the two assessment components are separately graded too.
V1.1 of the end-point assessment plan was published on 27/10/2023.
The end-point assessment consists of the following two assessment components:
- Interview with portfolio of evidence
- Observation with questions
The overall apprenticeship is graded as Pass/Distinction, based on the apprentice’s combined achievement of the specified grading criteria across the two assessment components.
EPA specification changes
From 1 January 2021, all apprentices will be assessed under the new specification and assessment requirements, following changes agreed by NASR, the EQA body.
This specifies achievement of 100% of criteria in the practical task to achieve at each grade (pass or distinction) and includes a new list of evidence requirements for distinction performance in the practical task.
