Approval for centre-devised units
As our specifications explain, permission will only be granted to add centre or locally devised units to BTEC Nationals in very exceptional circumstances.
This is because we must work within QCF regulations when making any amendments to these qualifications. For example, we must ensure that we don't jeopardise or compromise the original structures and focus, or create duplication and overlap. For these reasons, applying to add centre or locally devised units is a long and complex process which may not be successful.
Please remember that under no circumstances should you start delivering a submitted locally devised unit without approval. To do so could, unfortunately, jeopardise your students' achievements.
