Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs are studied in over 80 countries worldwide and in independent schools in the UK. Available in 37 subjects, they are equivalent, grade for grade, to UK GCSEs and accepted by universities globally. Aimed at learners aged 14 to 16, they provide the skills and knowledge needed to progress to A Levels, International A Levels, onto university and into employment. Why choose Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs

Our qualifications have been designed in collaboration with subject experts, teachers and university professors, to ensure that the content and assessment methods are appropriate and will enable successful progression for learners.

We have ensured a content route that is appropriate for your learners with international topics and the use of culturally sensitive, local contexts where possible. This is to ensure that these qualifications are even more relevant and engaging for students around the world, allowing for learning in a local context to a global standard.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs use the 9–1 grading scale which is also used for the Ofqual regulated GCSEs. The new scale was introduced by the UK government to raise standards and recognise outstanding performance. It improves differentiation between learners with a nine (9–1), rather than an eight (A*–G), point grading scale. This means that students are ideally placed to make progress to International A Levels (IAL) and to universities worldwide.

Doing all the assessments at the end (linear) works well for many, but we know that spreading the exam pressure works better for others (modular). So, you can now choose a modular route for many of our International GCSEs*. The linear journey remains exactly as it is, two years of study with exams at the end. Modular International GCSEs break the journey into units with an exam at the end of each unit, when the student feels prepared and ready. Whichever route you choose, the exams take the same amount of time, teachers spend the same amount of time teaching, and everyone has the best chance of success at international GCSE.

Pearson Edexcel are the only awarding organisation to offer a modular approach for International GCSE and International AS/A level.
