GCSE Citizenship Studies Amends - Autumn term 2022
This update includes links to the amended specification and sample assessment materials (SAMS) for GCSE Citizenship studies, to reflect changes to the UK/EU relationship following the UK's department from the EU.
DfE new content requirements
The DfE (Department for Education) has recently released new content requirements for a range of subjects, including GCSE Citizenship Studies, to reflect the UK’s departure from the European Union.
Pearson Edexcel GCSE Citizenship Studies specification
The DfE changes have resulted in some minor but important amendments to Pearson's specification and sample assessment material for GCSE Citizenship Studies.

In order to prepare you and your students for assessment on these changes, we have additionally provided an update to the sample assessment material(SAMs).
Support material for new content
To support you in delivery of the amended specification we have collated some support material. Our senior examining team have produced the following resources below have been developed specifying the key information relating to the content and offering links to external resources to aid in the delivery of this content.
Implications for teaching and assessment
All changes made come in to effect for first teaching in the academic year 2022/2023, and first assessment Summer 2024. We will be publishing guidance about what the changes mean and new support material shortly.
Please note the 2023 exam series will remain unchanged.

This event will explain the changes made to the GCSE Citizenship specification, what these changes mean for teachings and how these changes could be assessed. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A.
