Transfer of credit
The transfer of credit facility is designed for individual learners who wish to transfer to a different centre midway through a course.
For some qualifications some learners may be eligible to transfer credit between specifications and/or awarding bodies provided that the specifications are current and have the same subject title.
Transfer of credit for International A level
International A level transfer of credit arrangements are not intended for those who have already claimed an International A level award. However, in very exceptional circumstances an awarding body will consider such an application, which must be supported by a centre statement.

Transfer of credit for Functional Skills
If you wish to apply for transfer of credit for Functional Skills in English, please apply via Edexcel Online through Access Arrangements Online (AAO), centre admin portal. Evidence of the previous attainment must be sent to uk.special.requirements quoting the reference from the CAP form.
Transfer of credit for GCE AS/A Levels are no longer accepted.
Frequently asked questions about transfer of credit
The only qualifications you can apply for are Functional Skills English and International A level. Transfer of credit is not available for any GCSE or GCE qualification.
Yes - you can transfer units for Functional Skills and International A Level.
This will be at the discretion of the receiving awarding body, and only if the transfers are compatible with the subject criteria requirements. Transfer of an entire cohort on the basis of a new member of staff joining the school or college with experience of teaching another awarding body’s A level specification will not be accepted.
An awarding body will not routinely transfer credit from legacy specifications. It will not always be possible for learners to combine legacy IAL AS units and current A2 units to make up a whole A level specification. Please contact us to discuss this.
Yes, you will need to submit a new form every time as this is not an automatic process.
Yes, they will need to cash in the IAL AS before completing the A2.
IAL AS transfers of credit arrangements are not intended for those who have already claimed an IAL A level award. However, in very exceptional circumstances an awarding body will consider such an application on a case-by-case basis. You will need to complete the JCQ transfer form, with a typed centre statement to support the application.
No. You will need to complete the transfer of credit form and send it to the relevant awarding body. The awarding body will process the application and provide your centre with a written response.
No. Transfers are not available to Linear GCSE and GCE specifications. It is only available to International A'Level which is modular.
As specification content and structure varies considerably between awarding body, you must seek advice from the receiving awarding bodies to ensure that there's no content overlap and requirements are met. When you're completing the transfer of credit form you will need to ensure that you specify the content the learner has already studied for at AS level, and what they're intending to study at A2 level.
