Case Study: Shanto-Mariam Institute of Creative Technology - Bangladesh
Shanto-Mariam Institute of Creative Technology is a pioneer BTEC institute in Bangladesh focusing on Art & Design. We spoke with Abdullah Masud, a previous director at the institution to discuss more about their centre and how their BTEC courses have been providing their students with the skills and knowledge to achieve their further education and career goals.
The founder of the Institute, late freedom-fighter Md. Imamul Kabir Shanto saw the need for design education in the country and he founded it with the aim to make international standard art and design education available for learners in Bangladesh. As the first art and design institute in this region offering globally recognised qualifications, it was a ground-breaking and courageous step which introduced a new dimension to the education sector in Bangladesh and in this region as well. Many students who were out of mainstream education, found a gateway to developing their career in the art and design fields. As such, it opened a new horizon for many students in Bangladesh.
