Senior Healthcare Support Worker-Maternity Support EPA

We have recently amended our Sample Assessment materials for the Senior Healthcare Support Worker EPA for Maternity Support pathway.

Centres are advised to access the updated materials from ACE 360 platform to ensure learners have the right sample assessments for practice.

First Aid updates

First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF) has recently agreed and amended the principles for blended learning, and these have been updated on the FAAOF website. 

Please read the full amended principles available on the FAAOF website and note that the minimum face-to-face learning duration for each type of course should be as follows:

Health and Health Science and Adult Care Sector forum

We are running three live online sector forums for Health, Health Science and Adult care sectors in September.

Thursday 24 September - 2pm to 4pm

Monday 28 September - 10 am to 12 noon

Thursday 1 October - 10 am to 12 noon

These sector forums are to update you on the sector news and Pearson's offer in the Health and Adult care sectors. 

These forums are suitable for anyone delivering apprenticeships and work-based learning qualifications in these sectors. 

The aim of the day would be to update you on: 

  • transition from Apprenticeship frameworks to Standards 
  • Pearson's offer for Standards, qualifications and EPAs 
  • dispensations for EPA and Qualifications due to COVID-19 
  • digital content offer for behaviours 
  • sharing good practice on getting learners ready for EPA

Pharmacy webinars

We are running a live online webinar on Thursday 3 September 2020 - 10 am- 12 noon

This event is suitable for Programme Managers, Internal Verifiers, Assessors, Tutors, Heads of Department, Quality Nominees, Centre Managers, and Apprenticeship managers who are getting ready to teach and support the learners to get ready for their end-point assessment (EPA). 

This online session is intended to provide an overview of the qualifications, gateway requirements and end-point assessment process for both Pharmacy Service Assistant and Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Apprenticeships.

This session will explore: 

  • what you need to know before your learners start their on-programme qualification or component i.e changes in qualification structure and curriculum 
  • assessment Principles for both on-programme qualifications/component
  • what resources and support is available for both the qualification and EPA 
  • the end-point assessment process with Pearson   
  • the session also allows for sharing good practice and your experiences in supporting the learner journey

First Person Scene

We are pleased to announce that we are launching a new BTEC Level 3 certificate in First Person On Scene 603/6353/8, available from 1 September 2020. 

This qualification is only 37 GLH and can be delivered in a classroom or through blended learning. However, learners must complete the practical assessments face to face with a qualified assessor. (practical assessments should be a minimum of seven hours).

With the launch of the new Level 3 qualification, the current Pearson BTEC Level 4 Certificate for First Person on Scene 603/0513/7 will be withdrawn after 31 December 2020. 

The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Extended Certificate for First Person on Scene 603/0512/5 will continue to be offered.

Healthcare Science and Health Screener Subject Advisor vacancies

We are currently looking for subject experts to support the quality assurance process for our Health Screeners and Healthcare Science qualifications. 

The role of the subject experts is to support the Standards verifier in quality assuring the specialist units to ensure they meet the standards of the qualification and the sector.

For this role you need current experience in the field and some understanding of the qualifications.
