New PAS and CAS forms

We have made available new PAS and CAS forms to submit with student work for assessment in summer 2019. These are editable PDF documents and you will need to save the file to your hard drive and open using Acrobat Reader rather than accessing via your web browser.

Important AS qualification update

Following careful consideration and research, we have been reviewing our AS and A level qualification suite and intend to withdraw our AS level in Music with the final assessment in summer 2020.

Exam entries

Exam entries for summer 2019 assessment must be made by 21 February 2019. After this date late entry fees may be charged. Please note that your exams officer will have their own internal deadlines in order to get the information necessary to make entries.

The entry code for AS level Music is 8MU0 and the entry code for A level Music is 9MU0. The entry code for AS level Music Technology is 8MT0 and the entry code for A level Music Technology is 9MT0. However, there are some option codes for any students resitting the qualification who wish to carry forward marks from the previous series.

There is also the final resit opportunities for the legacy A level in Music Technology specification. Candidates must be entered for the units and have the correct cash-in code.

Access to scripts

The free access to scripts service will close on Friday 14 December. If you want to download and save any scripts from your students summer 2018 exams then you will need to do this by Friday 14 December.

Scripts do not have examiner annotation on them. The marked script allows teachers to evaluate how the student performed on particular questions in relation to what they have been taught; the Principal Examiner's Report and the exemplars that we make available demonstrate how the mark scheme is applied.

If scripts have been marked "traditionally" (i.e. not online), centres will have to request them via the Post Results section of Edexcel Online as in previous exam series.

On Wenlock Edge

d’Overbroeck’s Sixth Form will be hosting an afternoon workshop for A level Music students on Tuesday 30 April 2019. Dan Norman (Tenor), Sholto Kynoch (Piano) and the Brodsky Quartetare going to lead a workshop for local Sixth Formers on one of the Edexcel A level set works, On Wenlock Edge by Ralph Vaughan Williams, looking at Vaughan Williams’s word-setting, and the genesis of his style and harmonic language. The afternoon will run from 3.00 to 4.30pm (exact timings tbc), and there will be no charge for those attending.

In addition to a planned recording of the song cycle, the musicians are collaborating with artist (Jeremy Bidgood) to produce a film to accompany the songs.

On that same date, there will be an evening recital at 7.30pm which will include a world premiere performance of the entire song cycle On Wenlock Edge with the accompanying film. Also in the programme are key works, including Ravel’s glorious String Quartet in F major, that reflect and illuminate the context in which the songs were composed. Tickets for the evening performance will be £10 for students and £20 full price and will be available to the general public nearer the time.
