Introducing Explorer Courses - September 2018
Our new Explorer Courses launching this September are for adult learners looking to find out more about career path opportunities in a sector that interests them, gaining the insight needed to make the best decision for their future.
An opportunity to experience something new
These courses will give learners who are considering a sector-based course a realistic idea of what it would be like to work in the sector of their choosing. Bite-sized content allows learners to explore the sector before committing to something more substantial.
Information from the course will include the vast opportunities the sector will present but also the challenges, giving learners a real insight into how they may want to develop their career path. There is an opportunity to pursue qualifications through these Explorer Courses that are fundable for eligible adult learners through the adult education budget.
The first release of Explorer Courses will include the following sectors:
- Childcare
- Construction
- Health & Social Care
- Hospitality
- Sport
The second release of Explorer Courses will include the following sectors:
- Business
- Digital
- Engineering
- Land-based
- Logistics
Each course will include a detailed workbook covering the individual sector and progression maps showing career pathway options. Videos will be made available to support each sector-based course presented by our Pearson sector managers.
There will be four modules within the course:
- Module 1: Finding out about yourself
- Module 2: Finding out about the sector
- Module 3: Learning about the specific course
- Module 4: Next Steps towards your career
Learners who have completed their chosen Explorer Course have the opportunity to make a decision and progress their learning by taking a BTEC or apprenticeship in the sector of their choosing.
