March 2022 Business update

The Advance Information was made available in February and after carrying out further checks, we have updated the advance information document for International GCSE Business where minor amendments were needed due to typographical reasons - the tables were reformatted. These updates are reflected on pages 4, 6, 8 and 10. Please check that you have downloaded the latest version.

The update also introduces the 2022 Be The Future Enterprise Challenge which invites your learners to create a social enterprise idea that addresses a social or environmental issue, such as poverty, climate change or inequality.

A new International GCSE November series - 2023

We're introducing a regular International GCSE November series, first running in November 2023. This series is being introduced to best meet the needs of students requiring International GCSE exam opportunities outside of the full May/June series and it will include International GCSE Business.

There will be no November series in 2022.

Please take a look at the timeline in the document below.

We know that many of you will still want to offer International GCSE exams between May/June 2022 and May/June 2023 and we will therefore continue to run the January series in 2023.

This will be the last January International GCSE series.

The third in our series of monthly spring term Business A Level network events, focuses on adapting existing assessment materials to expand the range of resources you have as your disposal for assessing your students.

As a follow up to the On demand course “How to create case studies”

this event will look at:

- Where you can source other material suitable for the specification

- How to adapt the materials so that they are suitable for students

- Ways to ensure assessment is still valid

- Opportunity to look at example materials that have been produced

- This event will provide delegates with materials to take away and use at their centre

Please note: a recording of the event will be available to attendees only.

The third in our series of monthly spring term Business GCSE network events, focuses on supporting you as you gear up towards revision for the Summer series, by looking at how to use all of the available existing materials to develop a plan for question setting. In this session you will see examples and take away materials to help you prepare and deliver a concise and broad revision programme of assessment using materials available already.

Please note: a recording of the event will be available to attendees only.

We are always looking to recruit examiners across our qualifications. This is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable insight into assessment and to work with other examiners to get some fresh teaching and learning ideas and approaches for your subject. More information about our vacancies, the application criteria and which subjects are currently recruiting can be found on our assessment associates web page.

#BeInBusiness is an online initiative created to support schools and educators, by inspiring greater student inclusion in Business at GCSE and A Level with a series of thought-provoking interviews, real-life case studies, and exciting industry contributions, designed to be widely shared in schools and educational settings.

As part of the campaign, we would like to spotlight a diverse range of perspectives and achievements through an interview series, in which a young business student interviews a diverse business leader.

We would be delighted if one (or more) of your students would be interested in performing these interviews. If you think this would be of interest, please fill in the short form below and we will get in touch with you shortly.
