Achieving a level 2 qualification in both English and maths (either GCSE grade 9 to 4 or Level 2 Functional Skills) helps students to progress to further study, training and skilled employment. For the T Level Foundation Year, students who did not achieve English and/or maths GCSE grade 4 at Key Stage 4 are required to continue studying as per the condition of funding. 

T Level students are also subject to the condition of funding in the same way as students on other post 16 study programmes. Plus, each T Level has English, maths and digital skills from the General Competency Framework embedded within the content. 

Therefore, it is essential all students progressing onto a T Level are equipped with the English and maths skills they need to succeed.
