BTEC Higher Nationals Become a Licensed Higher Nationals Partner

Under the IP agreement, HEIs can benefit from adopting Pearson’s BTEC (RQF) Higher Nationals qualifications, including Higher Technical Qualifications, in their entirety and offer them as their own validated awards. It enables HEIs to access high-quality Level 4 and 5 vocational and technical programme content, launch provision quickly, respond flexibly to market needs and support learner progression to Level 6.  This agreement protects Pearson’s intellectual property by specifying that the content cannot be used for any other purpose. 

Under IP, HEIs   remain in control of their own validation, delivery, assessment, and quality assurance processes, as well as awarding and certification.  

The Pearson Trademark Licence is ideal for  HEIs who wish to design, validate, deliver, and award their own Higher National qualifications. The TM agreement allows partners to take advantage of Pearson’s globally recognised brands in Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas, whilst retaining complete ownership of their qualifications. It is important to note Higher National programmes delivered under the TM Licence must map to the core content of  BTEC Higher National programmes, where in place. The aim of this design principle is to preserve recognition from employers and professional bodies.
