Pearson and Liverpool Football Club release new BTEC International Level 3 qualifications and resources in Sport
Pearson, the world's learning company, and Premier League Champions, Liverpool Football Club, have launched brand new BTEC International Level 3 qualifications and resources in sport, which are now available for teaching as part of their recent partnership.
Pearson has been working with Liverpool FC to create co-branded BTEC sport, fitness and physical activity sector qualifications, available to overseas learners from September 2020.
The exclusive partnership will transform the learning experience for young people and adults who aspire to pursue careers in the global sports industry. The qualifications include pathways in Sport, Sport Fitness Instructing and Personal Training, Sport Coaching and Development, Sport Business and Management and Sports Facilities Operations and Management, and will support the growing global sports industry within which new careers are emerging and developing all the time.
Internationally recognised
BTEC International Level 3 qualifications are recognised internationally by governments, industry and higher education institutions and support learners’ progression into the workplace – either directly or via higher education.
Young people and adults wishing to pursue and make progress in the sport and leisure industry will acquire up-to-date industry knowledge, as well as transferable skills and behaviours that are highly valued by employers through units in business, technology and self-employment. These skills are especially valuable in a changing world where job roles continue to evolve and the emphasis from industry and employers is increasingly on flexibility, adaptability and transferable skills.
Diverse and inclusive
Pearson and the LFC believe that everyone should be able to participate in sports - regardless of ethnicity, gender, background, faith, beliefs or sexual orientation. The qualifications and resources reflect this and includes units in ethical principles and LFC’s specific units on their history and sporting methodology.
As one of the world's most successful sports clubs that runs senior teams for men and women, LFC holds a philosophy of values called The Liverpool Way, which is central to everything the club does. Coaching Football the Liverpool Way (Unit 38 of the specification) examines the LFC International Academy’s coaching techniques, coaching principles and the player development model that have been adopted over the years to make LFC a world-leading football club.
Cindy Rampersaud, Senior Vice President BTEC and Apprenticeships at Pearson, commented:
