Studying a T Level has significantly influenced my career path. It has enabled me to discover a profession I am passionate about while simultaneously gaining essential work experience alongside my academic studies.
Completing my T-Level came with its own challenges, balancing your study to work time can be slightly difficult, I was in the fortunate position to be paid for my work experience, even picking up an extra day of work during my second year. The course itself lends itself well to the wider world of work, and has set me up with knowledge and skills that will be necessary for my future.
During my work placement, I was offered the opportunity to work an extra day and get paid for it. I also was able to work throughout the summer and all the half terms, all paid for. Following the completion of my course, I have been offered a paid higher apprenticeship with the company I was completing work experience with. This course has genuinely set the foundation for the crucial years after study and I couldn’t be more grateful for it.
Gaining real experience in a field that I am now incredibly passionate about has been the most enjoyable part of the course for me. The education I received was amazing, but being able to translate that into a real world scenario has been incredibly eye opening, often answering the dreaded question “when am I ever going to use this?”
Meeting the members of the team that I now work with full time has been the best part of the experience, being able to make friends with these people and then carry it on after the course has been incredibly helpful for settling in and getting used to a new company, often the hardest part for some.
The T-Level has improved my confidence in my leadership and teaching abilities. It has also given me a more direct route for my future, after having little to no idea of what I wanted to do with my life.
If you are someone who isn’t too sure where they want to progress, or do know and want some real-world experience, I would absolutely recommend a T-Level.
