Although International GCSEs have 'GCSE' in their title, they do not conform to GCSE subject or qualification criteria, so cannot be accredited by Ofqual under that title.

Instead, they will be accredited and listed on Ofqual’s Register of Regulated Qualifications as 'Level 1/Level 2 Certificates', under 'Other General Qualifications'. These Level 1/Level 2 Certificates are eligible for funding in UK state schools.

Results of the Level 1/Level 2 Certificates, which will be known as The Edexcel Certificates, will be recorded on school performance tables, and successful attainment will count towards a student’s achievement of the English Baccalaureate.
