In September 2017 we introduced some staffing and approval guidelines in line with CIMSPA guidelines to the BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Fitness Services (720 GLH) (601/7215/0).

We’re writing to let you know that we are removing the requirement of additional staffing and approval requirements for this qualification with immediate effect, including if you have already started teaching the qualification. This change will give you more flexibility in the way you teach the qualification.

The specification will be updated to reflect this change. The approval and staffing requirements will now be the same as all of the other qualifications in the BTEC Nationals Level 3 Sport suite (RQF), including the following:

  • BTEC Level 3 National Certificate in Sport (603/0458/3)
  • BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Sport (601/7218/6)
  • BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Sport (601/7220/4)
  • BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Sport (603/0460/1)
  • BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma Sport (603/0459/5)

Don’t forget that the BTEC National Diploma in Fitness Services meets the membership entry requirements for REPs (Register of Exercise Professionals) and CIMSPA, supporting learners progression to job roles in the fitness industry.
