An update on your BTEC Level 3 Nationals for Public Services
Find out about what's planned for BTEC at Level 3 in the Public Services sector.
As you may already know, we have been reviewing and updating the BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Public Services with the original intention of submitting new qualifications to the DfE for inclusion in the 2020 performance tables (England) for first teaching in September 2018.
However, in order to ensure your qualifications fully meet DfE requirements for performance measures, we need to delay the first teaching date of your BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Protective Services to September 2019.
Protective Services first teaching from September 2019
Following the DfE's recent announcement that they will be reviewing criteria for inclusion on performance tables for 2021 results (read our bulletin here), we have decided to postpone the submission of the new BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Protective Services. We will submit according to any new criteria for inclusion in the 2021 tables (England). We anticipate submission during 2018 for first teaching in September 2019, subject to confirmation of the DfE submission windows and approval process.
We are planning to submit the following qualification sizes: BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Protective Services: Certificate, Extended Certificate, Foundation Diploma, Diploma and Extended Diploma.
Improving your current Public Services qualifications
The current suite of BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Public Services (2010) remains available for registration until 31 August 2019.
We recognise that these qualifications are valued by teaching professionals, but that some areas of the specification would benefit from being refreshed and updated. To that end we're currently updating the delivery and assessment guidance for a number of units within the suite. We are planning for the guidance documentation to be published on the Public Services qualification webpages in the new year.
Your current qualification sizes are: BTEC Level 3 Nationals Public Services: Certificate, Subsidiary Diploma, 90-Credit Diploma, Diploma and Extended Diploma.
