May 2023 teaching English update
Dear Colleagues
I hope the term is going well and that you are making good progress with your coursework submissions and exam preparation. Much of the information I flagged in my April update (exam timetables, prescribed editions rules & setting up coursework for next year etc) remains relevant in the run-in to June. We’ve had a very positive response to our GCSE English language 2.0, but we understand that it’s a big decision to change to a new qualification. That’s why we’re offering an exclusive package to all centres* wanting to switch to our GCSE Maths or GCSE English Language 2.0 qualifications.
Helping teachers with their coursework and SLE submissions
Last week, I spoke to over 250 teachers during 4 live support sessions to talk through how to make their submissions prior to the May/June 2023 exam series.
To make sure all teachers can access support at a time that suits them, there are pre-recorded sessions for each qualification group on my YouTube channel.

A brief reminder for Int GCSE English Language A teachers submitting coursework that only the current format can be submitted in May 2023 (on two texts with a commentary). If your students have completed the new coursework in error, please see the below guidance.
