BTEC Nationals (AAQ) news and events

We are hostng a free launch event for the new Pearson Level 3 Alternative Academic Qualification BTEC National in Applied Science (Extended Certificate). 

These events have been arranged to formally launch the new BTEC Qualification and provide an opportunity for you to ask questions, hear from other centres and for Pearson to outline the following:

  • An overview of the qualification, including structure, assessment methodology, grading and quality assurance
  • How transferable, digital and sustainability skills are built into the new qualification
  • The support offer which is either available now or in development
  • How these new qualifications can sit alongside A Levels
  • UCAS points and support from Universities
  • Defunding of current qualifications and the future offer across Level 3 for 2025 and 2026

Wanting to understand the holistic methodology around assessment planning and assignment writing for BTEC International Qualifications? This session is designed for Programme Managers, course leaders, Internal verifiers, Quality Nominees and the Delivery and assessment staff

This session will look to understand the Holistic Assignment writing and Assessment process for delivering the BTEC International Level 3 in Applied Science. During this session you will:

  • Explore and understand the Pearson Authorised Assignment Briefs (AABs) and Pearson Set Assignments (PSAs)
  • Discuss Assessment process, methods and the varied forms of evidence
  • Understand how to provide effective feedback to the learners
  • Examine command verbs in the context of your vocational area, the qualification units and the assessment criteria
  • Discuss ways to develop links with employers and external stakeholders.
  • Understand how to use the platform Pearson Progress and how ties into the assignment process.

Active participation in this session counts towards 5 hours of continual professional development
