Important update about GCSE Maths sample assessment material
Read the latest news on recent discussions between Ofqual and awarding bodies about the perceived level of demand in current GCSE Maths SAMs.
You may know of recent discussions between Ofqual and awarding bodies about the perceived level of demand in current GCSE Maths sample assessment materials (SAMs). To ensure consistency, Ofqual are evaluating all SAMs over the next 3 months “through an extensive and robust research programme.” You can read Ofqual's letter to schools here.
As a result, we recommend that you do not make your awarding body decision based on the SAMs available, as they may change.
All the awarding bodies have agreed not to publish additional SAMs until Ofqual share the results of their research. The content of the specification won’t change, though, so you can continue teaching or preparing to teach.
As soon as the research results are published by Ofqual, we will promptly ensure that our SAMs reflect any changes and, based on the feedback we've already received from you, we're sure you'll find our SAMs accessible to the full range of your learners.
We’re committed to supporting you every step of the way. You can find out more about our free support here.
