It was recently brought to our attention that some images in two of the Textile Design portfolios from our face-to-face training earlier this academic year were mistakenly put in the wrong portfolio.

The two portfolios this effects have now been corrected. Please refer to these links from our Exemplar Library, rather than materials sent out directly after training events when using these portfolios as part of your marking and standardisation.

We apologise for the mistake. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

A Level History of Art Updates

As students prepare to sit the Summer 2024 examinations, I recommend reading the June 2023 Examiner Reports as well as looking at the Exemplar Materials to inform your revision planning. You can also find further support and guidance under the drop-down menus below.

Following feedback from Summer 2023 regarding the image quality in Paper 1, we have made some alterations to the layout of the paper to support candidates in completing the examination.

Section A: Visual Analysis section has had some slight alterations in the Question Booklet. We have now added a ‘Blank Page’ between each of the images for Questions 1 to 3. When candidates now open the booklet they will see a blank page on the left-hand side, with the image and the question on the right-hand page. Section B will start on the next page following Question 3 in the booklet as normal.

We hope that this change will support your candidates.

As we make the final preparations for the summer series, we have a few questions for you. Please take one minute to answer this short form.

Thank you.

The Time is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure

This National Portrait Gallery exhibition on until 19 May showcases the work of contemporary artists from the African diaspora. As well as surveying the presence of the Black figure in Western art history, this exhibition examines its absence  – and the story of representation told through these works, as well as the social, psychological and cultural contexts in which they were produced.
