Apprenticeship Standards Express Delivery Operative (L2)
This new apprenticeship standard is designed as a minimum 12 month programme and is for apprentices who wish to gain the skills, knowledge and behavioural competences required to work, providing timed deliveries and collections to homes and businesses.
They will use world class equipment and software to provide timed deliveries and collections to homes and businesses and may cover roles such as postal workers, couriers and express delivery driver.
They will have a high level of individual responsibility for their working day and delivery route and may be on foot using trolleys or required to use a vehicle such as a pedal cycle, motorbike, van or lorry.
They provide a high level of customer service which may include real time tracking of deliveries or the installation of electrical and other goods.
They maintain excellent communication throughout the delivery chain from collection to delivery point and dealing correctly with failed deliveries and returns.

You can use our on-programme offer regardless of whether you are using Pearson as your end-point assessment organisation or not.
Qualifications
In order to meet the apprenticeship standards, apprentices must achieve:
- Mnimum of Level 1 English and attempt a Level 2 English
- Minimum of Level 1 Maths and attempt a Level 2 Maths
There are existing optional qualifications that have been mapped to show coverage of the apprenticeship standard.
As both a vocational and academic awarding organisation, we can offer a wide range of English and maths qualifications in line with your standards’ requirements from Functional Skills through to GCSEs.

End-point assessment
As an ESFA-approved Assessment Organisation, we provide a full range of assessment services, resources and support from our experienced EPA team to equip you and your learners with the diverse requirements of the apprenticeship standards.
You can use Pearson as your end-point assessment organisation, regardless of whether you choose to use our on-programme offer or not.
The End Point Assessment for this occupation consists of:
- Multiple choice test graded pass, fail, distinction
- Role Simulation graded pass, fail, distinction
- Professional Discussion graded pass, fail, distinction
The overall apprenticeship is graded as Pass/Distinction, based on the apprentice’s combined achievement of the specified grading criteria across the two assessment components.
Overall EPA is graded as Pass/Distinction, and the three assessment components are separately graded too.
