Get key updates on all our English qualifications for the new academic year.
I have gathered the key updates for the year in presentations for the main qualification groups. These include information on AI/adjustments for 2022-2023 (confirming that AI applies for November 2022 and thereafter we expect all assessments to return to usual [as in the specification] for all subsequent exam series), key dates for coursework/spoken language endorsement submissions and an amazing range of upcoming training:

Spoken language endorsement: remember to video-record a sample of your assessments for submission by 15 May 2023 for the June 2023 exam series. The sample will be submitted on the Learner Work Transfer portal (LWT). There’s guidance in the specifications and in the admin support guide.

Book your place on coursework marking training for each A level; 9EN0 03 pre-release Q&A in January; ‘New to A level English Literature’ & ‘Summer 2022 feedback’ for English literature.
Text changes on 9ET0: please note in the issue 7 specification the four new texts added, for first assessment at A level in June 2024, and the 4 texts that will no longer be assessed after June 2023.
English Language A: please note the changes to coursework affecting certification from June 2024. Spoken language endorsement samples are required in January 2023 and all subsequent exam series. These will be submitted digitally on the LWT.
English Literature: Students will be assessed on the full specification in January 2023 (including Part 3 of the poetry anthology) and in all subsequent exam series.
Onscreen assessment in June 2023
Your students can sit their 4EA1 and 4ET1 exams onscreen in June 2023.
Don’t forget you can order hard copy, summer 2022 exam papers (at a nominal charge) to use for mocks. Order by the end of September.
Mocks service and new moderation service
Have us mark your mocks or use the moderation service to get feedback on your department’s marking of GCSE English Language.
