July 2025 BTEC update for Business, Applied Law, Enterprise and Marketing
Welcome to this July update!
This is the last update of the year. I do hope that you enjoy the summer break when it comes but before you go...... please make sure you have completed the preparations for the results days in August detailed at the top of the update.

5 July | Claiming deadline: all internally assessed unit grades to be submitted and full award claims to be made by 5 July. |
14 August | Level 3 results day |
21 August | Level 2 results day |
1 September | Release of the Tech Award PSAs for the May/June 2026 assessment series. |

Before you go...
After results have been published you may wish to analyse your results using some of the services we have available such as Access To Scripts and Results Plus.
The Access to Scripts portal and ResultsPlus can only be accessed by Edexcel Online users who have the Exam Viewer and ResultsPlus permissions ticked in their Edexcel Online profiles. Only Exams Officers are able to give teachers this access.
Don’t forget to ask your Exams Officer for access before you break up for the summer, so that you are ready for the post-results period.
Available from results day, our Access to Scripts service allows you to view your candidates’ marked scripts online or download as PDFs, providing transparency of marking and to help you make decisions around requests for reviews of marking and inform future teaching and learning. This service is available for:
BTEC Firsts | Unit 9 | Principles of Marketing |
BTEC Nationals Business, Enterprise | Unit 3 | Personal and Business Finance |
BTEC Nationals Marketing | Unit 2 | Marketing Principles |
BTEC Tech Award Enterprise | Component 3 | Marketing and Finance for Enterprise |
ResultsPlus is our online results analysis tool that gives you a detailed breakdown of your learners’ performance in their exams.
Once you’ve received your learners' results, you can get more insight on their performance on each question at individual learner, class or cohort level using ResultsPlus.
Results Plus can provide you with a breakdown of marks for each Assessment Focus on the BTEC National externally assessed set tasks - units 2, 6 and 7 (or units 2, 7 and 12 on the BTEC National in Enterprise & Entrepreneurship).

Do you currently use ActiveLearn?
ActiveLearn will be retired by the end of 2026 and you will be upgraded to Active Hub our digital teaching and learning platform.
With ActiveHub, you’ll get:
- a user-friendly interface with improved navigation
- enhanced functionality including an insights dashboard, auto-marked activities and an assessment library (dependent on subscription package)
- a mobile-friendly platform, allowing your students to complete homework and interactive activities on the go
We would like to invite both teachers and learners to share their stories with us so we can work together to inspire others.
We will work with you to create the content and guide you through the process.
The Economics, Business and Enterprise Association would love to know about your subject-specific professional development needs to help plan activities for 2025-2026.

We’ve made some important amendments to the BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise to
- add clarity to some of the content, and
- better align the content with the assessment tasks.
The assessment grids and descriptors have not changed.
Learning Aim A 1-3 | Task 1a | No change |
Learning Aim A4 | Task 1b | No change |
Learning Aim B | Task 2 | Alignment of the wording in sections B2 and B3 of the specification. |
Learning Aim C1 | Task 3a | No change |
Learning Aim C2 | Task 3b | Realignment of specification content to assessment grid. Addition of factors from the other learning aims to the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (as previously advised in moderator reports). |
Learning Aim A 1 | Task 1a | Reduction of factors to consider from eight to six as content is rearranged. |
Learning Aim A2 | Task 1b (Part 1) | Realignment of content with a clearer business plan template. |
Learning Aim A2 | Task 1b (Part 2) | Realignment of content with a clearer business plan template. |
Learning Aim B | Task 2a | No change |
Learning Aim C | Task 2b | No change |
PSAs will now be available three months earlier

The tables show the number of UCAS tariff-points Level 3 BTEC Nationals are awarded.
We have a variety of pages devoted to keeping you informed about the reforms.
The interim report of the Curriculum and Assessment Review was published in March with the final report due in the autumn.
The report seems to acknowledge that "a significant proportion of young people require a mix of qualifications, or cannot access A levels or T Levels, or have not yet decided on career plans."
