Performance tables in England for 2020 results - spring term updates

Here's an update on the first release of qualifications included on performance tables in England for 2020 results covering what's currently included, when we are due to hear from the DfE about the next release, and how you can get in touch with our specialist subject teams for more support and guidance. 

1. Technical Awards (14-16 Key Stage 4 in England)

There is currently a total of 8 BTEC qualifications included on these tables - five BTEC Tech Awards and three BTEC First Awards.

We’ve created a simple subject-by-subject summary of what’s included on Key Stage 4 performance tables in England for 2020 results, and what’s under DfE review.

As you can see, the DfE has removed several BTEC First Awards and our Pearson Edexcel Level 2 Certificate in Digital Applications (CiDA) from the 14-16 performance tables at this first stage.  We’re reviewing these removed qualifications and may re-submit during the summer term 2018.

​We’ll also re-submit our BTEC Tech Award in Digital Information Technology in March 2018.  We expect to hear from the DfE during May 2018 and we’ll update you as soon as we have more news.

BTEC and Pearson qualifications at Key Stage 4 (performance tables in England for 2020 results)

Our BTEC Tech Awards are designed for teaching at Key Stage 4 alongside GCSE.  We’ve worked closely with teachers to create these qualifications and we’ll provide support materials to help you move to the Tech Awards once they’re approved by the DfE. ​

2.  16-19 performance tables in England

Great news - the DfE has added the following new qualifications to 16-19 performance tables in England for 2020 results. All qualifications previously approved for 2019 tables for Key Stage 5 were approved for 2020 tables:

BTEC Level 2 Technical Certificate in:

• Fish Husbandry

BTEC Level 2 Technical Diploma in:

• Children's Play, Learning and Development (Early Years Assistant)

• Floristry

• Horticulture

BTEC Level 3 Nationals:

• Extended Certificate in Equine Management

• Foundation Diploma in Equine Management

• Diploma in Equine Management (Equitation)

• Diploma in Equine Management (Yard Management)
  
  

• Extended Certificate in Horticulture

• Foundation Diploma in Horticulture

• Diploma in Horticulture

• Extended Certificate in Digital Content Production

• Extended Certificate in Digital Film and Video Production

• Extended Certificate in Digital Games Production
  

• Diploma in Forensic and Criminal Investigation

• Extended Diploma in Forensic and Criminal Investigation.
