Pre-examination information
This page explains the rules you are expected to follow when taking exams via the Pearson Remote Invigilation Service. These rules help make sure exams are fair and secure.
Preparing your room
Your exam room must meet the following specific requirements:
- A private, quiet room
- Clear and uncluttered workspace
- Full room visibility for checks
- No other people present during the exam
- Suitable placement of devices
- Printer and scanner/scanning app on your mobile device (for paper‑based exams and onscreen contingency) .

Important reminders
To get the most value out of the systems familiarisation process, please remember to:
- Prepare your room as though you are taking a real exam
- Ensure you have all necessary devices (Computer/laptop, mobile and backup device, with a stable internet connection)
- Use Chrome browser
- Join at the time communicated by your school/centre
- Follow the step-by-step guide and the submission requirements
- Familiarise yourself with the exam rules.
Remote invigilation exam start times
The below times are when students must log into the Assessment Player and click ‘sit assessment’. This will begin their setup process and connect them with an invigilator. Once the setup has been completed in full, the invigilator will confirm that the student may begin their exam
May-June 2026 examination series
Exams conducted via the Remote Invigilation Service start at the following times UK:

2026 timetable and authorised material lists
Please refer to the timetable and authorised materials list for confirmation of the following:
- exam dates
- AM or PM sessions
- what is provided within the Assessment Player for each subject
- what authorised materials you are permitted to bring into each exam.
Examination login details
Your school/centre will issue your login detail to you prior to your first exam.
When you receive your login details from your school/centre, log in to the Assessment Player to test these are working before your first exam and contact your school/centre for help if you have any concerns.
Please always contact your school if you require confirmation of your login details as our Customer Support teams cannot confirm these directly to families.
