Pearson BTEC Early Years Educator (EYE) Level 3

Existing Level 3 EYE practitioners already working in settings 

To minimise disruption to the existing workforce, existing Level 3 practitioners already working in settings will not be expected to complete any top-up or additional qualifications to remain qualified at Level 3. They will continue to hold approved qualifications providing their qualification is on the early years qualifications list. 

Existing learners and new learners 

The following qualifications on the early years qualifications list will be “full and relevant” upon completion, meaning that the individual can work as a qualified member of staff within the staff:child ratios on completion of the course. 

Please ensure that any learners who need to be counted in the full and relevant qualifications to be counted in staff ratios have been transferred or topped up to one of these qualifications by 31 July 2024. 

• Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Children's Play, Learning and Development (Early Years Educator) 
  
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Children's Play, Learning and Development (Early Years Educator)
• Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Learning and Development (Early Years Educator)

Notification of withdrawal 

The following qualifications will be withdrawn on 31 August 2024 with no further registrations after that date: 

• Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Children's Play, Learning and Development (Early Years Educator)
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Children's Play, Learning and Development (Early Years Educator)
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Children's Play, Learning and Development

The following qualification will remain available for registration until 31 July 2025. This will be replaced by the Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Early Childhood Development (AAQ), available for first teaching from September 2025: 

• Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Children's Play, Learning and Development
