Edexcel GCSE Music: July 2023 update
Read the latest news for Edexcel GCSE Music. This will include the latest information as we move towards results in August 2023.
This summer saw a return to the full examination requirements for the first time since 2019 and we fully appreciate the hard work which students have put into their coursework and revision. On behalf of the Pearson Edexcel Music team, we want to thank everyone in schools for your dedication in supporting students and helping to make sure they achieve the grades they deserve. We wish you and your students a well-deserved break over the summer, and the best of luck on results day.
Results and post results services
The first full exam series for three years is now in progress and thoughts turn to issuing results for candidates. For some of you this will be the first series for a long time and for others this will be the first experience of candidates receiving results after exams. Below are all the details you will need leading up to results and for the post results period.
The question papers and mark schemes from this summer's assessments are now available to download from our website. Examiner reports will be available on 29 August.
Results will be released to centres on 23 August with results released to candidates on 24 August.
From results day you can download centre-specific moderator feedback for all your NEA components. To find out how to do this please read the guidance below.
Moderator Report (E9)
Your moderator writes a report to explain where it was necessary to adjust your centre’s marks. Where possible, your moderator advises you on how you could make improvements for future series.
You can find these on Edexcel Online. Please speak to your examinations officer if you don't have access to Edexcel Online.
Watch our short video on how to find your Moderator Report.
ResultsPlus
ResultsPlus is a free online results analysis tool for teachers that gives you a detailed breakdown of your students’ performance in Edexcel exams. It provides the most detailed analysis available of your students’ performance and helps you to identify topics and skills where your students could benefit from further learning, helping them gain a deeper understanding of their subject.
Principal Moderator/Examiner Report
The Principal Moderator or Examiner also compiles a report on how candidates performed in this year’s examinations. It provides general feedback and highlights good approaches that can be taken forward to future examination series.
You can find these reports on ResultsPlus. Please speak to your examinations officer if you don't have access to ResultsPlus.

Access to scripts
After the results are published in August, centres will be able to view and download scripts which have been marked online free of charge from our self-service portal via Edexcel Online.
Customers should save and/or print any scripts they need for teaching and learning purposes before the deadline(to be confirmed but is usually in December).
Scripts do not have examiner annotation on them. The marked script allows teachers to evaluate how the student performed on particular questions in relation to what they have been taught; the Principal Examiner's report and the exemplars that we make available demonstrate how the mark scheme is applied.
If scripts have been marked "traditionally" (i.e. not online), centres will have to request them via the Post Results section of Edexcel Online as in previous exam series.
These scripts will also be free of charge, but the final dates to request them are the same as the published JCQ Access to Scripts deadlines.

If you're a centre with a concern about a student's results, you can use our post-results services. We have details about these services and their cost online.
