Our General Qualifications Assessment Support page provides updates and information from Ofqual, the Department for Education (DfE), the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), and Pearson regarding GCSE, AS, and A level exams and assessments.
It includes announcements, news, support materials, and updates to help teachers and students with assessments and post-results support.
For Summer 2025, the page offers ongoing support throughout the academic year, including Subject Advisor support, professional development courses, and contact information.
General qualifications assessment support | Pearson qualifications
Calculators used in exams must comply with JCQ regulations.
Some more advanced or graphical calculators may need to be put into exam mode to be exam compliant.Β
If you are unsure if a calculator is exam compliant, speak to your Exams Officer.
For GCSE Maths, candidates must have:
- ruler graduated in centimetres and millimetres,
- protractor (180 or 360 degree both ok)
- pair of compasses,
- pen,
- HB or B pencil,
- eraser,
- calculator,
- Formulae Sheet (enclosed).
Tracing paper may be provided.

Pearson Edexcel A Level GCE in Mathematics Formulae Book
Candidates are not permitted to take their own copy of the formula sheet/booklet into the exam. They will be provided with a clean copy in the exam.
GCSE Statistics
There is no formulae sheet for Foundation tier GCSE Statistics. Any formula that students should be able to use but need not memorise will be given within the question.
Students are provided with a formulae sheet at Higher tier and this is included on page 2 of the question paper.
You can find full details of formulae provided in Appendix 1 to the specification below:
Level 2 Extended Maths Certificate
Students will be provided with a formulae sheet in the form of an insert to the exam. The content of this sheet is the same as for GCSE Mathematics, with some small adjustments to reflect where there are differences in content.
Students will be provided with the formula for the Trapezium Rule in the body of the question should it be needed.
The formulae sheet for the 2025 Level 2 Extended Mathematics Certificate exams can be accessed using the link below:

Pdf versions of the question papers will be uploaded to the Maths Emporium within 24-48 hours of the exam being sat.
Word versions of all papers will be available by the end of June.
Mark schemes will be released on 22 July.
Worked solutions with student friendly guidance will also be made available by the end of July.

π’ Important Update for 9ST0 Scheme of Work! π’
The Scheme of Work (SoW) for 9ST0 has been updated following clarification from the Examiner. Questions requiring both mean and standard deviation from a given normal distribution will no longer be asked on 9ST0 papers, as they involve simultaneous equations not covered in the course.
Additionally, the guidance on acceptable hypotheses for ANOVA tests (page 363) has been updated to clarify the requirements on the use of notation.
The revised document (v3.2) is now available on the qualification site and the Maths Emporium. Please download the latest version to stay up-to-date. π₯β
For Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A (Modular), weβve published a document to simplify the rules and administrative requirements on entry and cash-in.
