This summer saw a return to the full examination requirements for the first time since 2019 and we fully appreciate the hard work which students have put into their studies and revision. On behalf of the Pearson Computer Science teams, we want to thank everyone in schools and colleges for your dedication in supporting students and helping to make sure they achieve the grades they deserve. We wish you and your students a well-deserved break over the summer, and the best of luck on results day.

The deadline for on time registrations is 1 November, and registrations must be made for all learners beginning the BTEC Tech Award (2022). You should now be making your entries for any learners that are sitting the internally assessed units in December/January, or the external assessment in January. The deadline to submit your entries is 18 October. It is essential these entries are made so that we can assign a moderator for these externally moderated units. Read more about BTEC tech awards processes using the link below.

We’ve put all the key dates you’ll need for the next academic year of the Tech Awards into one handy reference document, including registration dates for new learners, release dates for PSAs, entry deadlines, external exam timetables and results dates.

Learners can retake internally assessed components once during their course.

If learners are retaking internally assessed components, they must respond to the new PSA released for that series. Learners are permitted to adapt work from their initial sitting where it is appropriate. They can use the full allocated time, including monitored preparation where applicable, and if they choose to adapt work from their initial sitting, they will need to repurpose, build upon and/or amend their work to meet the new PSA. Learners should not be overly guided on how to improve their work, and if assistance is provided, this should be documented and considered during assessment.

For further information, centres should follow the JCQ Guidance with particular attention paid to sections 2 and 17.

Moderation Analysis

If your cohort were not adjusted at moderation then the 'Raw' marks that you submitted will match those used for awarding and the BTEC marks convertor will confirm this.

See the BTEC marks convertor tool

If your cohort were adjusted then you may want to compare your submitted 'Raw' marks with those used for awarding and to do that please use the Results -> Reports - Bulk Download "Component Results[*.csv]" report which can be downloaded from Edexcel Online (EOL) if you cannot download this report ask your Exams Officer to provide it for you. This report will have the 'RawScore' column which represents the adjusted raw mark that was used for awarding. You can compare this to your submitted 'Raw' marks to understand how much adjustment has been applied.

Results for May/June series internal assessments

Results for the May/June series will be issued to centres on 16 August and can be released to learners on the 24 August. On results day, you will also have access to the final moderator reports (on Edexcel Online), which include feedback on your marking, and you’ll be able to download Principal Moderator reports from the subject qualification page, detailing outcomes of the series overall and giving helpful guidance for future series.

Tech Award 2022 DIT Qualification Page

If you have concerns about your results after having reviewed your moderator report and final marks, you can request a review of moderation (Service 3) (RoM) from results day until 28 September. Post-results service requests cannot be submitted until all learners have received their results.
