General Qualifications Bulletin - UK - Issue 36
Dear Colleagues
It’s hard to believe that we have reached the end of another academic year, and great to have a return to some normality with examinations.
I want to repeat our ongoing thanks to the senior leaders, heads of department, teachers and exams officers, to the teaching assistants, technicians, administrative staff, operations teams and everyone in between that have made this year happen.
As I write to you, we have marked over 96 million items, have finished marking most qualifications and are finishing marking the final examinations that took place. If you have worked with us as an examiner this year, thank you for your commitment to issuing results for all our learners. It’s a monumental joint effort across the education sector every year to undertake a full exam series and issue results in time for results day and examiners play an incredibly important role in this.
Some of you will have finished for the academic year already and others will be finishing very soon. I hope you all have the chance to have a fantastic and well-earned break. This is our final edition for this academic year and I won’t be writing to you for the next few weeks. We will have a results day special bulletin in the week beginning 8 August 2022 where we will be sharing more detail about appeals and what to expect in the build up to results day, as well as other important and helpful information.
In the meantime, if you need any more information or want to share any feedback with us, you can always get in touch as we will continue to be here over the summer break. We will always do our best to get you the answers as quickly as possible.
Hayley White
Assessment Director
It’s hard to believe that we have reached the end of another academic year, and great to have a return to some normality with examinations. As in previous years we’ll have plenty of support available to you and your students to help you with results day. We'll be providing grade boundaries and examiner reports, as well as our additional post-results services, included as part of your qualification fees, to help you understand your students' results.
For some of you it will be your first experience of results day, so we want to ensure that you’re all aware of the information and support services that will be available to you from results day.
Access to Scripts Service
Our popular Access to Scripts* service provides visibility and transparency of marking and helps to inform future teaching and learning. You can find the full details on our website, along with FAQs and a step-by-step User Guide.
*This service is available for any exam paper that has been marked online. Written permission must be gained from candidates before scripts can be accessed.
ResultsPlus
ResultsPlus is our online results analysis tool that gives you a detailed breakdown of your students’ performance in Pearson Edexcel exams. Providing you with the most detailed analysis available of your students’ performance, ResultsPlus will help you to identify topics and skills where your students could benefit from further learning – helping them gain a deeper understanding of their subject.
Further support
We’ve also got some information on our reviews of marking and moderation (ROMM) service, and some support articles:
Results support for students, parents and carers
We’ve created a guide to help students, parents and carers understand results and grades. From results slips and grade boundaries to university applications and certificates, our guide explains all the support that will be available from results day.
Download the guide Understanding results and grades from our website and pass this on to your students so they are ready for results day.
For some of you it will be your first experience of results day, so we want to ensure that you’re all aware of the information and support services that will be available to you from results day.
Thank you to those Exams Officers that joined us for our first getting ready for results event last week. If you weren’t able to attend, you can view the recording of the session and access the slides in this support article.
We're hosting another session in August to help you prepare to issue results and navigate the post results period successfully.
