Thinking of switching to Edexcel?
Our specifications offer a smooth transition from popular key stage 3 content, and our assessments are designed to allow students to demonstrate their skills to the best of their ability.
We’ll provide a range of support, free materials, published resources and CPD will be available to help you navigate changes, understand the standards required, and prepare your students for the new linear GCSE (9-1) assessments.
Our qualifications are designed to show how language is used in real life. We’ve embedded cultural and authentic content throughout our specifications, assessments and support material, giving students a sense of purpose to language learning.
Our specifications focus on themes that teachers and students have told us they enjoy, and we’ve structured them around terms to support teachers’ planning.

Video: 2016 reforms to languages GCSEs
We believe languages should be widely accessible, and our new GCSEs in French, German and Spanish have been developed to help students of all abilities benefit from learning a language and learning about the world around them.
We've carried out extensive research with teachers and students, and trialled questions and mark schemes. Our content will include existing topics that teachers have told us they like teaching, and that motivate their students. All our papers are designed to be clear and concise and, where appropriate, questions feature scaffolding to help all students progress through the assessments confidently.
