October 2026 Languages Update
Welcome to the October Languages update.
In this month's update, you'll find details of additional GCSE Exam Insights sessions, opportunities to connect with colleagues through network events, an update on GCSE Biblical Hebrew set works, and key dates for the 2027 assessment series. We're also keen to hear from you about the support, resources and guidance that would be most helpful as we plan future training and communications.
Whether you're teaching a qualification for the first time, refining your approach for a new cohort, or planning ahead for future assessments, we're here to help.

Extra GCSE Exam Insights sessions now available
Our GCSE French and GCSE Spanish Exam Insights events proved extremely popular, so we have added an additional session for each subject. These events explore key learning from the 2026 exam series and provide practical guidance to support teaching and learning this year. Visit our Languages training and events page to book your place.

Strengthen Collaboration and Understanding
Why not host a network event at your school? Bringing colleagues together provides a valuable opportunity to share best practice, discuss key educational topics, and build meaningful connections. As part of the event, a Pearson specialist will deliver an engaging presentation, helping to spark conversation and support professional development. GCSE (9-1) Biblical Hebrew: Paper 2 set text changes
We're pleased to let you know that Ofqual has approved the new Paper 2 (Literature) set texts for GCSE Biblical Hebrew for assessment from summer 2029 to summer 2031.
