This apprenticeship standard is typically a three year programme for those who want to work as construction site engineering technicians.

Site engineering technicians in construction have specialist knowledge and skills in civil engineering and the role is associated with the dimensional control and application of engineering solutions on construction projects. They will be based on construction sites with occasional time in offices. They may assist design teams with civil engineering solutions, or supervise specialist contractors.

Apprentices will require strong technical skills and knowledge in civil engineering, including strong maths competencies and good communication skills, to be able to convey technical aspects of reports, present information and solutions to clients, and deal with people at all levels of organisations.

You can use our on-programme offer regardless of whether you are using Pearson as your end-point assessment organisation or not.

Qualifications

There is a mandatory qualification for this apprenticeship standard which meets the knowledge requirements of the standard and is approved by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers as meeting the educational requirements for EngTech LCIBSE.

Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Construction

OR

Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National in Construction and the Built Environment

In order to meet the apprenticeship standard apprentices will be required to hold or achieve:

  • Minimum of Level 1 English and attempt Level 2 English
  • Minimum of Level 1 maths and attempt Level 2 maths
