Reasons to choose Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics
Assessments are entirely calculator-based, reflecting the skills needed in the modern world, and allowing students to focus on problem-solving rather than crunching the numbers. Students can also use advanced graphical calculators in the exam.
Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics qualifications provide an accessible, positive and motivating exam experience that allows all learners to feel they have been able to demonstrate their knowledge, resulting in excellent grade outcomes.
For International GCSE Mathematics A, we offer a choice of linear or modular assessment. The linear route is where exams are taken at the end of the programme of study. The modular route breaks the journey into units with an exam at the end of each unit. Whichever route you choose, the exams take the same amount of time, teachers spend the same amount of time teaching, and everyone has the best chance of success at international GCSE. Pearson Edexcel are the only awarding organisation to offer a modular approach for International GCSE and International AS/A level.
Modular International GCSE Mathematics A assessment is available for first teaching from September 2024 and first assessment from May/June 2025 for the following subjects.
*The modular assessment route is only available to schools outside of the UK (United Kingdom)
We offer a choice of specification (Mathematics A, Mathematics B, or Further Pure Maths) which are all thoroughly researched from the outset to remove the need to update the content and assessment model during the life of the specification.
Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics qualifications are designed to meet the needs of Key Stage 4 learners (ages 14-16) and to provide a smooth transition to International A Level (IAL®) or UK A Level Mathematics. Through our worldclass qualification development process, we have consulted with International Advanced Level and A Level teacher, as well as university professors, to validate the appropriateness of this qualification including the content, skills and assessment structure.
In addition to your local regional consultants, we also have a dedicated maths expert, Mark Heslop, who can talk through the subject content in detail and answer any questions you have.
