In school, wanting to be a Poet

The Competition

Join us to celebrate our latest collection of poems 'Belonging'. Taking inspiration from one of our poems 'In Wales, wanting to be Italian', we are challenging students in years 9, 10 and 11 to create their own poem.

Poems can be of any style or format and need to be submitted online. Students are also encouraged to submit performance style videos with their submission if they would like to!

We recognise the importance and value of poetry in the curriculum, but with centres having the option to study 19th century fiction instead of Poetry for the Literature 2021 exams, we want to ensure those students who have a love for writing poetry are able to share their poems. Whilst it’s been a very challenging and surreal year with the pandemic touching every part of our lives, it’s also been a time when creativity has heightened for many as they have expressed themselves through writing. Now is a great opportunity for students in years 9-11 to share their work and we look forward to celebrating their achievements! Whether you just love writing poems or enjoy writing and performing them, here’s your chance to showcase your talents.

Poems can be of any style or format and need to be submitted online. Students are also encouraged to submit performance style videos with their submission if they would like to!
