Paper Based on Demand Functional Skills Assessments for English and Maths Levels 1 and 2
We are pleased to inform you that we have launched Functional Skills paper based on demand for English and Maths at Levels 1 and 2. This service/ offer gives you the flexibility to book paper based assessments at a time and date that is convenient for your learners. Assessments need to be booked a minimum of 14 days in advance for a specific time and date, but they stay live for 5 days if you have any learner absences.
With this service now in place, the series-based assessments will end in the summer of 2018. The last timetabled series-based assessments will take place in July 2018 for English and Maths, and in June 2018 for ICT. Our onscreen on-demand English and maths and on-demand ICT offers remain in place and will continue to operate as they do now.
You can now make test bookings on Edexcel Online for Functional Skills Level 1 & 2 English and Maths.
Booking tests on Edexcel Online
Before you make any on-demand test booking you need to register your learners for Functional Skills. You will not be able to make a test booking unless a registration has been made first. Bookings must be made a minimum of 14 days* before the test date.
We have created this quick guide on how to book paper based on demand tests on Edexcel Online.
*Test bookings cannot be amended within the 14 day window. Any bookings cancelled fewer than 14 days before the test date will still be charged.
You will receive all test materials, including question papers, attendance registers and examiner address labels, a minimum of two working days before the test date.
You will also receive a place card for each learner that includes their Functional Skills registration number and centre number. These cards should be placed on learners’ desks before the exam, to ensure they write the correct details on the front of their test papers, so we can link the results back to them.
Tests must be booked for a specific time and date and we envisage that the majority of the tests are conducted at this time. However, we understand that sometimes a learner is unable to attend a test and you need to reschedule. If a learner is unable to take a test at the time you have made a test booking, we will allow you up to five days to reschedule this test without making any change to the test booking. Test materials must be held securely within the centre at all times.
Returning the questions papers
Pre-paid yellow Parcelforce labels will be provided for the return of scripts - see our guide for details of how to arrange ad-hoc collections from Parcelforce.
All completed tests must be returned to us (at the address marked on the label) within seven days of the test date. Any unused tests and any inserts need to be securely destroyed.
Results and post-results services
Results will be available on Edexcel Online within 28 days of us receiving the questions papers. Any review of marking applications should be submitted via email to email@example.com within 14 days of receipt of the result.
There is no Access to Scripts service for paper based on demand Functional Skills.
If you use both the qualification management application (QMA) and Edexcel Online, please ensure you always book your learners’ tests on the same system. This will prevent your learners from sitting the same test twice and will enable them to certificate.
