Industry engagement

Industry is placed at the heart of BTEC Higher National qualifications. Throughout qualification development and validation, we work with industry experts to structure our qualifications to meet industry standards.

Co-designed with industry, higher and further education experts, and students, Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals provide real-world experience as well as academic knowledge. This ensures students will leave with the required expertise as identified by business and industry, and with the flexibility to go straight into employment or continue to a degree.

Our work with industry

We then work with industry partners post-validation to further recognise our qualifications; whether that be in the form of upskilling their own workforce with our qualifications or simply formally accepting the qualification as a part of the application process.

We are proud to have developed our BTEC Higher Nationals in Construction with large, global organisations, including:

  • Vinci Construction UK
  • Cundall Engineering
  • Laing O’Rourke
  • Balfour Beatty

The representatives are able to help structure our qualifications to equip learners with skills required by industry across the world.

The Sector Skills Council for Construction supported the qualifications registration to Ofqual.

Industry support and recognition

For years, employers have valued the skills and knowledge that BTEC Higher National students bring to the world of work. That is why students choose to study our programmes.

Specific companies and industry bodies that have made formal statements of support and/or actively hire BTEC Higher National students include CABE, VinciBAMCIOB,CIAT, and the Joint Board of Moderators.
