Co-designed with industry, higher and further education experts, and students, Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals provide real-world experience as well as academic knowledge. This ensures students will leave with the required expertise, as identified by business and industry, and with the flexibility to go straight into employment or continue to a degree.

Our work with industry

We are proud to have developed our BTEC Higher Nationals in Applied Sciences with a number of different organisations. At the advisory stage, Pearson worked with representatives from organisations such as:

  • GxPpro Ltd
  • The Royal Society of Chemistry
  • The Royal Society of Biology
  • The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining

At the validation stage, representatives from Smith & Nephew and Worn Again Technologies were on the panel to assist in validating the qualification and ensuring it was fit for purpose. The representatives were able to help structure our qualifications to equip learners with skills required by industry across the world, and Worn Again Technologies also supported our qualification application to Ofqual.

We also work with industry partners post-validation to further recognise our qualifications, whether that be in the form of upskilling their own workforce with our qualifications or simply formally accepting the qualification as a part of the application process.

Industry support and recognition

For years, employers have valued the skills and knowledge that BTEC Higher National students bring to the world of work. That is why students choose to study our programmes.
