An update on everything new within the Education and Training sector.
Diploma in Education and Training (DET)
As part of our ongoing support for you deliver the Diploma in Education and Training (DET) we have pre-recorded a training session for you, this session is approximately 30 minutes in duration covering the following subject areas:
- Recruiting with Integrity
- Observation requirements
- Incorporating the minimum core and professional standards into delivery
- Specification amendments
- Future of the Diploma in Education and Training (DET)
- Ofsted Inspection under the ITE Framework
- Standard Verification processes
The training video is available under the course materials tab and requires your Edexcel Online username and password to access. Version 3 of the specification as discussed in the video can also be found here.
This training is mandatory for all Trainers/Assessors/Verifiers who are involved in the delivery of the DET programme to ensure the high standards of delivery requirements continue to be met, your Standards Verifier will be reviewing that the training has been accessed by all relevant persons at your next planned verification visit.

SET membership for ITE students
A reminder to colleagues that your student currently studying for an initial teaching qualification you can join SET for free if they are studying for a Level 3 to 5 qualification or a PGCE from a recognised Initial Teacher Education (ITE) provider, they can apply for free membership to the Society for Education and Training (SET) here: Free SET membership for ITE students
Additionally on achievement of the Diploma in Education and Training (Level 5) or the Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship students are eligible to apply to the Society for Education and Training (SET) for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
QTLS is a professional status recognised in the education sector, which is gained after successfully completing a six-month period of professional formation and maintained through membership to the Society for Education and Training.
