June 2024 Psychology subject update
Welcome to your Pearson Edexcel Psychology June 2024 subject update.
Hello colleagues,
With GCSE and A Level exams completed for psychology, I hope that teachers reading this have a chance now to reflect on the positive impact you have had on your learners this year. This month we begin to look ahead to the new school year, and Year 12 students are making their plans for careers and further study beyond A Levels.
This update therefore focuses on reflections on the recent exam series, and planning for the future. Along with information on our exam feedback survey for teachers and some details relating to results days, we have training events coming up for GCSE, A Level and IAL psychology and information from the British Psychological Society which may be of interest to Year 12 students.
For updates on the qualificaiton(s) you deliver, please see the relevant section below.
Best wishes,
Tim Lawrence

This training is designed for teachers who are due to start teaching our GCSE course for the first time next academic year, or who are relatively new to the course (for example those coming to the end of their first year teaching it).
Although we do not offer an International GCSE course in psychology, our UK GCSE course is available to international centres and is straightforward to deliver as all the assessment is through the two exam papers.
These free online CPD sessions (module 1 and module 2) scheduled for October run from 9.00-11.00 UK time making them easier for teachers in Asia to attend, but UK based teachers available at this time are equally welcome!
This training is designed for teachers who are new to, or relatively new to, teaching our International A Level course. Module 1 and module 2 are free online events and will run from 9.00-11.00 UK time.
The relevance of psychology to society is a theme explored in our GCSE and A Level courses. Year 12 students in particular may be interested in the UK general election, and the election manifesto published by the BPS, highlighting arguments for making more use of psychology in plans for improving the nation.
As they consider university applications and other career pathways, Year 12 students may also be interested in the free careers resources on the BPS website, in the 'careers' section of their 'teachers' toolkit'.
