July teaching maths update
Hello everybody
A huge thank you from the maths team for getting your students through another series of exams.
You may start to notice a new social feed element on the Maths Emporium website, which is where you will find our latest updates and releases. Multi-factor Authentication for Edexcel Online: make sure you can access results and ResultsPlus
On 19 June 2023 we wrote to all registered Edexcel Online account holders, advising that we had introduced Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) as an additional layer of security to help protect your centre and learner data.
While a lot of users have now accessed Edexcel Online (EOL) and successfully gone through the MFA process, we are aware that other roles may not use EOL and other related systems on a regular basis, and the next time to try and log in is on a learner results day.
If you are a user that will need to access any of the following systems during the summer results period, please log into these now and work with us to troubleshoot any issues you may have before you finish for your Summer break:
- Edexcel Online (EOL)
- ResultsPlus
- MyBTEC
- Exam Viewer
Additional support for Multi-Factor Authentication can be found in customer support article
Accessing Pearson Services Using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

Post-exam feedback surveys
We want to hear what you thought of this summer’s examination papers. We have put together a series of surveys for each qualification so that you can provide feedback by 21 July.
We are working closely with our senior examiners and your feedback will be shared across the teams to ensure that we continue to make improvements to our papers where appropriate and in turn make sure that your students have the best examination experience possible.
GCSE – Level 2 Extended Maths Certificate update
Many of you have been asking about the new Level 2 Extended Maths qualification.
We are currently receiving the papers back from our second trial using the SAMs, and we are excited to review the performance and feedback from the students and teachers involved. Our next steps are to confirm the content list with the examiners and to start building resources ready for first teaching in September 2024. This qualification is being designed to challenge your most able GCSE students and will be an extension of those key higher topics that will naturally lend themselves to some crossover A level topics such as, algebraic proof, factor theorem and vector geometry.
If you are interested in knowing more about this new qualification you can visit the qualification webpage and contact us via our expression of interest form.
A Level
In the autumn term, we will provide A Level Further Maths Topic Tests for the Core Pure and the Applied Option 1’s. They will be a mix of questions taken from legacy exam papers and new questions for content new to the syllabus. These will complement the existing support materials.
