This training focuses on the teaching of the course and will give you an understanding of the content of the qualification and how to cover it and how to plan the course, with a more detailed look at how assessments are structured where you will look at exam questions and understand how these have been marked so you can use this to inform your teaching

In this training, delegates will;

  • Explore the content of the qualification and how to plan the course,
  • Understand the Assessment Objectives for the qualification,
  • Understand the mark schemes and use them when marking exemplars,
  • Explore student exemplars and mark according to mark schemes,
  • Discuss strategies for teaching content to try and make sure students can access questions targeting different assessment objectives,
  • Review the support Pearson offers,• Discuss best practice and share ideas with other teachers

We’re looking for a Principal Examiner for IAL IT, units – WIT11 and WIT13.

What you’ll do: 

  • Maintain standards and consistency across assessments 
  • Lead examiner standardisation and quality assurance 
  • Guide marking, awarding, and post-series reviews 
  • Support examiner teams and contribute to training 

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is experienced in teaching and assessing this qualification  
  • Is a confident communicator and team leader 
  • Has a deep knowledge of Information Technology/Computer Science 
  • Is passionate about fairness, inclusion and continuous improvement

Become an Examiner

An International GCSE Information & Communication Technology (2017 Specification) Examiner marks candidates’ responses in accordance with the pre-defined mark scheme, whilst adhering to conditions of recognition and examination procedures

A high level of subject knowledge is necessary in order to apply the mark scheme. Each examiner will receive an agreed allocation of scripts.
