BTEC Tech Award March Update
We are in the final year of the outgoing specification and the second series for the 2022 suite is upon us. This means that there are quite a few questions I hope I can address some here, and as always contact me directly for any further guidance.
Click on the headings below to access information about the correct version of Tech Award for you.
Component 3
We had an exam for the Component 3 on the 1st February - results are due for this exam on 5th/6th April.
Last session for Component 3 is this summer and the entry deadline for this session is the 23rd March - however if you are entering a resit from the February 2023 series no late fees will be charged. The entry deadline for these learners is 14 April.
If you want help with Post results services see the
Post-results services webpage.
Component 1 and Component 2
Most or all Standards Verifiers (SV) are now allocated and you can find contact details in Edexcel Online (EOL) for these, since this is the final series for Standards Verification for the Tech Awards your alloctaed SV is the best person to discuss sample requirements with so make contact as early as possible.
If a component was assessed last academic year or was started last academic year and ths is evident in your assessmet plan then these components are recognised to have been eligible for reduced assessment and your SV will undertsnad when evidence of assessment for LA-A is not available.
Support Index
This Support Index is incredibly useful for a new qualification like our 2022 Tech Awards, some of the documents are specifically relevant to teachers and some are more useful for Exams Officers but it is good that all of you have access to these articles:
Complimentary Training events
We have further training sessions scheduled for Marking and Standardisation for DIT and you can book using the link below:
Register for 15th march 16:00 - 18:00 Event

Marking and Moderation for Internally Assessed Components
Dec/Jan Session
Moderation for the first internally assessed components has taken place and meetings have been held with all but a couple of centres that have informed me otherwise. If you did not get a meeting with your Moderator please let me know.
Results are due 22nd/23rd March after results day you can access your final Moderator reports as shown in this helpful guide

If you have problems you can apply for Review of Moderation Service 3 from results day and up to 20th April, more details can be seen at the webpage below:
NB: Re-Entry for Resit
If you want to re-enter a student who had not achieved to poptential in the Dec/Jan series in the May/Jun series the entry normal deadline of 21st February is extended to 1st April.
May/Jun Session
Entry deadline is 21st February (already passed) late entries are open until 21st April after which High late entry fees apply. (Resit entry deadline is extended as explained above).
I have received a number of questions regarding the February PSAs - most of which (at least so far) have been straightforward. We definitely appreciate that the Administrative Support Guide (ASG) needs to be improved and we have this re-work in the pipeline. But for now the ASG is the primary source for control conditions information. If you have specifc questions please come directly to me.
