New FT for Schools case study - The UK party system and first-past-the-post
We’ve created a brand-new case study on ‘The UK party system and first-past-the-post’, using the Financial Times for Schools resource.
This case study, based on FT article, ‘The new politics may be more like the old politics than we assume’, relates to the following UK Politics specification points:
- 2.4 UK political parties in context: The development of a multi-party system and its implications for government
- 3.1 Different electoral systems
- 3.3 Electoral system analysis
It contains research activities, discussion points, suggested homework exercises and sample student responses.
Look out for more FT for Schools case studies in the Autumn term! You can also find more case studies on the A level Politics qualification page.
Summer 2026 student survey for A level Politics
We are keen to hear from Edexcel Politics students about their experiences of studying our qualification and sitting exams this summer. We’d be grateful if you could encourage your students to complete this survey before the end of term to help give us more insight into our qualifications and assessments. We’ve used a similar survey with students over the past exam series and received lots of helpful feedback from Politics students.
Summer 2026 general qualifications and assessment teacher feedback
To enable us to improve the experience of teachers using our qualifications and students sitting our exams, we gather feedback after each exam series. If you're a teacher, and your students have taken any of our exams in the May/June 2026 series, we are eager to hear your thoughts. On the link below you can find our teacher survey for A level qualifications.
General qualifications Summer 2026 assessment support
On this page we’ll provide updates and information from Ofqual, the Department for Education (DfE), the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and Pearson, relating to the exams and assessments for our GCSE, AS and A level qualifications.
