International GCSE in English Literature

In January 2023, May/June 2023 and all subsequent exam series, students will be assessed as in the specification. This means they will be assessed on Part 3 of the poetry anthology on Paper 1.

Arrangements for the January 2023 exam series

In January 2023, we return to the ‘normal’ assessment of English Language A, English Language B and English Literature. This means:

English Language A and B: submit video-recordings of students completing the optional spoken language endorsement on the Learner Work Transfer portal (LWT)

English Literature: students will be assessed on Part 3 anthology poetry, and Paper 4ET1 01 returns to its usual format and duration.

Changes to when International GCSEs are available for assessment

January 2023 is the last January exam series. After May/June 2023, we will offer Int GCSEs in May/June and November each year.

From July, you will be able to order a new edition of the English Language A student book, reflecting the changes to the specification from September 2022, and aligning to current best-practice pedagogy.

No changes to set texts planned

There are no planned changes to the set texts on either English Language A (the anthology texts) or English Literature, so you can plan your delivery using the texts listed in the specifications.

Following years of research, a track record of millions of onscreen assessments taken in different forms worldwide, and our successful pilot this year, we’re excited to announce that you’ll have the option of onscreen assessment for your students sitting International GCSE English Language A and English Literature from May/June 2023.
